The surface of the earth of this province is hilly in the East, West and South as well as low lying in the North. The position of high land above sea level most of it between 153m – 305m. Whereas the highest level is 915m which is along the Jeli Province.

Kuala Krai Province consists of 3 districts namely Olak Jeram District, Batu Mengkebang District and Dabong District. There are 35 Mukim Penghulus and 216 villages.

 There are two Local Authorities, they are Kuala Krai North District Council administering an area of 12,494 hectres while Kuala Krai South District Council covers 162,128 hectres. Whereas the remaining 60,611 hectres is outside the Local Authorities.
